Rear end backlash

How do you adjust it? On a 9.75 rear end. I know how to check it . I just don't know how to adjust it after I check it. Thanks

You have to move the carrier to the passenger side to tighten up the backlash or reverse to loosen. This is done by removing shims on the passenger side and adding them to the driver's side or as the last Ford rear that I tore into (74 Ford car) turn the threaded caps on the ends of the carrier to move it. After the backlash is correct, check the wear pattern. If that isn't correct, you have to use shims to move the pinion forward or back as required to get the pattern correct. If you are not meticulous or experienced, get a professional to do it. I muddled through 2 diff rebuilds way back in the 70's. Both turned out ok for some reason. LOL

Do you happen to know of pics or a video you could send me a link to?

Just google. The above link I just found. I have a Richmond Gear video I bought from Summit Racing a long time ago for about $15. If you google you can find more of them.
