f150 4x4

Hey I am having trouble with my IWE actuator not engaging when the truck is in 4wd just the passenger side. I think the actuator might be bad?

I get a little vibration when I accurate but it does not happen all the time. I think it is mainly when I have the steering turned or I have a have load. It is coming from the drive train I think. U joins maybe?

anyone know anything about a 97 since all i read is about an 06 and the 4x4 system changed or is it similar as far as the failures go? my truck clicks when i turn the switch to the 4hi position and get the 4hi signal on the dash but then when i switch to 4Lo it doesn't engage. found out i had a problem when i was out camping and got stuck.

Were you stopped with your foot on the brake, and the transmission in neutral when you tried to shift into 4lo? If not it won't shift.

I changed my actuator Sunday it was not that bad of a job. The actuator was bad and the gear were a little wore but I put it back together and it works fine.

97 is a whole different system. No IWEs.
