35's and gearing

Hey guys, new to the forums.. and yep i did intruduce myself on that forum too lol.

Just curious how the f150s react to 35x12.5 tires.. im used to my 2008 ranger and i ran 4.56 gears with my 35's and worked pretty good.

Is it necessary to regear when running 35's or will the stock gears do pretty good? in the near future im hoping to add a 6" lift and 35x12.5 tires.

Also curious on how the front ent of these trucks hold up.. cv axle wise and front hub assemblys as my ranger didnt liek the 35s much and i went through hub assemblys at least 1 set a year lol

I have a 2010 crew cab with 6.5 box, 3.55's and just installed 35x12.50's. Truck is a little sluggish nothing unreasonable, dont think ill tow until I re-gear though.

depends on what gears your truck has stock, in some mean wierd way Ford offered different gear ratio's, like they offered cab, bed, engine, interior configurations

but yes you'll want to re-gear, 4.56's if you've got a 5.4 and 4.88's if you've got the 4.6 or worse

I've been running my truck with the 4.6 and 3.55 gears in it with my 35's and it isn't to bad just driving around. Although when I hooked up my 5x8 trailer and a couple 4 wheelers loaded up it did seem to struggle a little bit and search in and out even on slight hills. I'm seriously thinking of putting new gears in it when I get back from overseas. Probably go with 4.56 in the rear.

Like stated above really depends on what gears and motor you have. I have the 5.4 with 35's and 373 gears and have no problems, even towing my boat really doesn't make it work too hard. If I had anything different I would probably change gears.

I went with 4.56s as it does great for towing and around town driving.
