Shows my ignorance. Didn't even know they had 4.30's for F-150's. So 4.30's would be best for the 2wd? I know their are a bunch of brands out, but is there really any difference? It seems Motive and Yukon are most popular.

I wished I could get 4.30 but they don't make that gear option for 4x4. I know Ford Racing offers 4.30 gears. I think may do 4.10 because when theses tires wear out I'm going down to 33s. Don't offload anymore so no need for big meats.

Ford motorsports has gears. A lot of folks on here run Yukons. I am running Nitros.

If your going to have the install done as a complete package talk to your installer. If your going to buy the gears and have them installed, or install yourself.

These are are the guys who did my install and do mail order all over the world. I would highly recommend. The owner even took my truck home to help get th break in miles done, so I didn't have to make as many stops on the 3 hour ride home.

A lot of folks on here speak very highly of Randy'd ring and pinion. I have no personal experience.

Thanks for the info, Glen.

That's actually a good question I forgot to ask about. I've read that a "complete package" is really only recommended if you have 50k-60k plus miles on the vehicle. I've only got 30k miles on mine. So just ring and pinion is the way to go? How easy/hard are they to install?

Bump this thread up a bit.

Having a hard time deciding between the 4.30 and 4.56 gears. Reminder, I'm a 2wd with(hopefully soon) 35" tires. Do NO towing. Just regular city/country back road/highway driving. Maybe a little offroading, but nothing big.

What do y'all suggest?

if a truck with 3.73 gears and 28" tires can run 192+ mph, there's no way your top speed is 75mph

I do agree that your mileage will be improved IF you can drive it gently with the 4.56 gearing

4.30 if you don't think you will go larger than 35s. What motor you have? If v6 or 4.6 go with 4.56 to get better low end torque. If you don't drive much above 70 go with 4.56 regardless of motor.
