Installing new gears - advice please

So my friend came up to me the other day and said that his stepdad would install gears on both of our trucks for us for free if we helped out. Obviously, I took him up on the offer since I still have stock 3.55 gears. I decided to go with these http://www.4wheelcustoms.com/Product....asp?ID=210927 .

my question is, what else do I need to get for his dad to be able to install them in a driveway? and in the description it says"A notched cross pin shaft is required for this gear set." what does that mean?

Also, any tips would be appreciated

im guessing his dad has all the right tools to set the gears.

i didnt use a notched cross pin for mine, i just shaved the ring gear a little for the stock cross pin to fit.

get a master install kit too, it comes with shims and new bearings.

have lots of cardboard down because you will be under the truck ALOT!!! and concrete isnt too soft!

yes, they are diff specific. you can get them from any store that sells gears. i got mine from diffsonly.com

make sure you have a torque wrench and backlash tool. i went ahead and replaced all my bearings and seals on my rear end. might as well while you have everything apart.

They work great! No whine at all! Even during the breakin period.
