Hey guys im finally have the funds to go through with this swap I just need to know the parts needed to complete it.
I know i need:
1. Traction Lok
2. Gear oil
3. Friction modifier
Anything else? Probably gaskets too.

You will also need carrier bearings, a press to install the bearings, a way to measure backlash, possible shims to adjust backlash, rtv for the diff cover, and I'd suggest axle seals too while you are in there.
Also, unless you're set on the trac lok, I'd suggest a Detroit Truetrac. It doesn't have clutches to wear out, you can use normal gear lube, and it performs better. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!

Do you know which bearings I would need? Maybe both.

Another option would be a "lunchbox" type of locker. You would install it in place of the spider gears in the open diff, and you don't have to replace the carrier bearings or re-shim the carrier. Just a suggestion.

as long has he puts the shims back in the same spot, everything should line up right?
You are correct in theory. But, that is assuming that the new carrier, the new bearings, and the new races are machined to the exact same specs as the old ones. We are are taking about thousandths of an inch. It should always be checked after a swap like this. It's much easier to check and adjust during the installation, than to fix a bigger problem later.
