need some power/torque advise

i have a '98 f150 4x4 with 35's. the motor is original & stock. it has the 4.6 2v & 3.55's. this combo is WEAK! i pull a work trailer & 19' boat. about 1/3 of my travel is 80 mph highway. my engine has 180k on it and plan to replace it with something & keep the truck.

im thinking air flow mods on a new 4.6 2v with gears or , a mild super charger that dosent require premium which i cant find, or maybe a 5.4 swap. what would you guys recomend.

You would probably be very happy with a gear swap alone. Then if you require more power, start moving onto performance products.

x2!
I wish i had done this with my f150 from the start. The long tube headers and intake and tuner definatly made a big difference but it was nothing compared to the gears. Im running 35s with 4.56 and the 5.4 and its great now.

gear change to 4.56's would be a good start. swap in a 99+ 5.4 if you are going to put in a new motor because they have PI heads.

superchargers are going to require that you run 93 octane. you CAN run them on 87 but you need a GREAT tune and i wouldnt risk it since you are towing.
