4r75e tranny problem

I purchased this truck brand new the transmission was serviced @ 60k by the ford dealer in Guam it now has 64k. (Of course the PT warranty ended at 60k) It started slipping and is making a low hum at all speeds. Kind of odd since I just had it serviced as per manufacture specs. I dont want to take it back to the only ford dealer on the island of Guam but I dont think I have a choice.

Has anyone had any similiar problems? I'm just trying to research all my options incase it my be a sensor or something which I doubt. because purchasing a new one, the shipping alone will be outrageous. And twice as bad if I pull it out myself send it off island to have it rebuilt then I have to pay the additional cost to have it shipped back. Any help would be great!

just a thought but have you check the oil level to make sure it has enough? i had an 01 4r70w that was only a half qt low and was "what i call" slip shifting, never hard a hum nosie. but i would check and make sure it has the right amount of oil in it and go form there. check when hot idle in park.

P-1783

Thanks but that was the first thing I checked, ATF is a he full mark, and clear bright red in color. I kept driving so it would pop a code and it did, now I'm getting a code on my EDGE p1783, and the dashboard computer now stays TRANS FAULT. I have been very easy on this truck it has towed a 4k boat like 4 times. No hard abuse what so ever i just find it had to believe I would start having poblems after I take it to the dealership to have he tranny flushed. This is the first F-150 I have every owned prior to it all F-350 diesels, and 1 Chevy 2500.

That error code suggests that the Trans is overheating. You say you tow a boat. Has the truck gotten wet lately? See this thread.

Well your kinda screwed being in Guam and all that sorta limits your options man. Your sure they used the proper fluid? 64k isnt much to start having problems. p1783 is tranny over temp. Perhaps your cooler bypass valve is sticking? I wouldnt drive it hot like that though itll do more, unreversible, damage. Check the valve or maybe even bypass it since its warm in Guam most of the time. GL

I agree 64k isnt much for milage considering the care I have taken of this truck. I do pull a boat one in a blue moon maybe 10 times total when my buddy doesent feel like towing it. It only weights 4500k as far as the temp I never drove it with a high temp except maybe 50 yards to my drive way. which I still dont think the tranny oveheated. it showed like instanty the Edge tuner started flashing and temp went from 160 to 383, 50 yards from my drive way on the way home from work. I cleared the DTC in the drive way, shut the truck off the next morning I started the truck to check it and the EDGE tuner immediatly said trans high temp 275 and very erractic 303, 99 214 etc.. and the dashboard said trans fault and I never even put it in gear. So I broke down and had the truck towed to he dealer last week and of couse they are telling me I need a new trannyAs far as the truck getting wet no except for the normal rain but I dont have to even ut the back tires in the water to get the boat off the trailer.

Was the transmission just drained/fluid changed? Or did they do a flush? The flush could have, if not done correctly, dislodged some debris and caused an issue.
