difference between 8.8 and 9.75??
difference between 8.8 and 9.75??
Have a 2002 f150 KR with the 5.4. I have the 9.75 axle. From what i am
learning, it's really a 8.8 just a 9.75. 8.8 as far as the axle shafts go.
Just to make sure i know what i think i know, the 9.75 is the diameter of
the ring gear. The 8.8 is smaller. Which makes the spider gear holder bigger
too?? Are they C clip axle shafts???
Not that i am going to ever break anything in these axles!!!!!
But watching
and reading made me wonder about it.
thanks alot

9.75" is not an 8.8". The 9.75" is beefer in many aspects. Such as larger diameter axle shafts, larger diff. carrier, larger bearings on diff. carrier and inner and outer pinion bearings. 9.75" is much more robust than the 8.8. Prices on parts for the 9.75" are a lot higher too. The 8.8" is a great axle for it's size. The 9.75" axle has a higher GVWR (rear vehicle weight rating).
