'97 ORP include 3.73 gears?
A guy that I work with has a 97 F-150 SCab Flairside 4x4 with ORP. The motor is a 4.6 with auto trans. He has never had a problem with lack of power or the transmission hunting, and he thinks that the 4.6 has more power than his 2001 Screw with 5.4. I've owned both a 4.6 and a 5.4 in similar trucks and I think that there is a world of difference in power but little difference is gas milage. Were 3.73 gears included in the ORP in '97 or were they even available?
I guy I used to work with had a 1999 ORP that came with 3.73's stock. I ordered a truck in 2000 and they said the 3.73's were no longer offered with the ORP, only with the 7700 package. My 2000 ORP came with 3.55's only.
I think Ford was trying to simplify the ordering process by offering less options. My wife's 2001 Mustang GT came with 3.27's only, and in recent years past you could have chosen a variety of gear ratios.

3.55 standard for supercab
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that 3.55 was the highest available gear ratio for a supercab. The last 3 F-150 Supercabs that I have purchases came standard with 3.55's, and on all but my current ride, 3.73 were optional. I was just wondering if the 3.73's were part of the ORP because it was the first year for the 17" wheels and the 4.6 combination.
