Unhappy WARNING: to all 4x4 with 35's and stock front driveshaft front

Ok well I went offroading today to test my new 35/12.5 Goodyear MT/R. They work really good. The bad news is that a guy I know got stuck in a big f*%$cken mud hole with his lifted ranger and I was like hell yeah I will pull you out. Well to make a long story shirt I twisted in half my front driveshaft. It just split in two! Personally I think the OEM front driveshaft is on the p*%ssy side. I guess my big tires are alittle much for it. Well I am off to the mechanic tommorow to see what the damage is. Any recommendations on a new one? Thanks guys!

Cool

Did you pull him in reverse? What type of connection did you use? (i.e. tow strap, chain) Did you gun it? These can all cause sudden strain on both drive shafts and tranny

Well I used a bungie strap and pulled him in reverse. I let alittle slack in the strap and then gunned it. The strap is meant for that. Unfornately on the third pull it snapped. I talked with the 4x4 shop by my house today and they said that it is really hard to bust a front driveshaft, ussaully the u-joint will go first. I amaze myself sometimes. Anyway, I got a quote for an OEM shaft with u-joints for $185 and then a alittle stronger modified shaft for $210. Are those reasonable prices? Anyways, I will keep you posted. I also got a qoute for new U-joints for the rear called Spicer Greasable joints for $18. Thanks!

Exclamation Angles

Have you realligned your axles since you put in your suspension lift and your body lift? misalligned pinion angles can cause stress on the drive shafts and cause them to shear very easily.

I bought my mt/r from tirerack.com. I bought them for 178 a piece with 70 bucks for shipping. That was the cheapest I found them. Everywhere around my house was like 200-210 for them, plus shipping becuase they didn't have them in stock. The size is a 315/75/16 which equals 35/12.5. Hope this helps. I have no rubiing what so ever. There is so much room. I did crank my torsion bars 6 times to get an extra 1.75 inchs. The ride is great, surprisingly. Hope this helps. I would also add 2 inch blocks to the rear. It not only makes the truck look so much better, but they are easy to install. I will post
