Well so far any serious mudding that 2wd doesn't handle 4wd lo does. And I think with a locker I'll do pretty well.

With the detroit u will be amazed with the difference it makes. Just be extra careful on ice or icy conditions. Hindsight always being 20/20 I could have easily gone without a locker in the front.

I have True-Tracs front and rear in my 97. Even by swapping the A4WD Expedition front diff you can get a factory Eaton..

I have an Auburn ECTED up front and a Detroit in the rear. Also, im not trying to highjack your thread with my posts and the you tube link. The you tube link shows some of the stuff i have gone through in 2wd with the Detroit. Some of it i needed 4wd. With the Auburn ECTED in 4wd its a limited slip, then when u need true 4wd u can hit the switch for the Auburn and lock it solid. Hardly ever lock it in though. The truck was built to take me back to my cabin deep snow or mud and to take me to huntin and fishin places the average 4x4 cant go. It works really well.

So the biggest difference between the Ected and the Detroit is that they Ected can be turned into a full locker with a switch? I'm not sure if that would be worth the extra $100+

camo: if you are going to put something in the front, the only way i'd do it is if you chose a selectable locker (electronic or air).
