Hey guys, need some help please. Under the truck changing the oil today and noticed what I think is my driver side front axle seal leaking. I have been searching but cannot find any info on this. Is this seal difficult to replace? I cannot find any write ups or pictures. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

 

its an *** hole. Damn near impossible to do with the diff in the truck. At the very least you will have to drop the cv, pop the cover off and get a snap ring off to get the rest of the axle out to change the seal. In theory you could do it on the truck. I got pissed off and dropped the diff.

 

Wonderful. That's what I was afraid of. I'm not exactly joe mechanic. Any idea how much a shop would charge to do it? I doubt I have the tools or the know how to do a job like this in my driveway......

 

No idea on the price probably about 6 hours of shop time. It's not on AllData. I haven't done on the 04+ body style though it may be different than the 97-03 body style.
