4.56 front axel gear wine
4.56 front axel gear wine
just had a motive 4.56 gear put in the front. everything was "said" to be set up right but i have a slight noise. pitch doesn't change with throttle or not it is just there at about 20 mph. it also doesn't change when the 4x4 is engaged. haven't gone over 50 mph due to brake in. so i don't know if it gets worse above 50 mph.
now i have heard good and bad things about motive gears. some got their gears to be quiet and some haven't.
do you guys think that i need to take it in? or just deal with it?
once again i can barley hear it over my exhaust
thanks for all your help

I had 4.56 Motive put in my rear end and at first they were quiet. After the break-in they started whining around 50-60, and again around 70. I took them in to have them checked and they said it was within specs and that I just had a whinny set. To be honest its quite annoying and thinking of replacing them with Yukons, as they seem to be preferred around here.
well figured out where the noise was comming from it was the posi diff that i put in the front. dont know why but when i put the open back in it, it was quiet as can be. maybe just a bad diff i guess? it more or less sounded like the teeth were meshing really hard. vibrating horribly at 50mph.
but for all the doughters out there the motive 4.56 can be set up quietly! just remember you need the notched cross pin or to shave two teeth on the ring gear!!!!
found that out the hard way!
