Tac Lok

I was wondering how easy it is to put a Trac Lok into a 97 2wd F150. Now that the truck is lifted my kid thought it would do better in mud, but with an open diff he gets stuck , just like I told him he would.

Anyway, he wanted a locker but he drives mostly on the street and I figure LS would be better for him. He could not afford a locker anyway. I find that the Trac Lok can be had for around $250 or so and was wondering how that would be, as well as how difficult it would be to install. Any help would be appreciated.

Barry

LUNCHBOX LOCKER!!!! or an aussie locker. look it up. there about 250, and only for open diffs. they replace the spider gears. basically, they lock under decent acceleration, and slip for corners. ill look for a video...

That looks pretty sweet. I will probably go with an Aussie Locker. Thanks so much.

Well he has the 9.75 rear end, not the 8.8 so I guess my only option is a true locker and have a shop install it. Ugh gonna be expensive

make sure its definatly a open differential first, it could be a very worn out trac lock making it act like a open diff. cause if it does have a worn out LSD u can just get a rebuild kit for around 100 bucks.

ok just makin sure u definatly knew it was a open diff, but i would just go with a stock lsd thats what im gonna put in my truck, they make a cobra lsd thts alot stronger and it will fit any 8.8 with 31 spline axles and its 220$ or so with shipping like 250$

I do not think I would trust myself to put one in after seeing what is involved with changing to LSD. I think I will change gears too when I do it as he has 3.55 open diff now which is great for stockers but he will be going to 33s and maybe 35s when he can afford it. He better be seriously saving up for these upgrades lol.
