You got the 1600+ bucks to regear it? That will buy a LOT of gas........

With a 4x4 you have to do BOTH axles.

replacing a transmission will cost more than a regear...

It should help....

But putting 37's on and expecting a re-gear to correct mileage is a ridiculous thought...

It will be better, but never like it would be with a set of stock 30.5" tires..

Good luck buddy, don't chince on parts and your installer...

I'm not familiar with the cost of doing this state side, but the lowest price isn't always the best.

Go to a tranny shop to inquire... Get a full price out parts and everything, then see if you can get the parts cheaper....

Which I kinda doubt... The shop will be wanting to make there money on the labour... Since a gear change can take a bit of time.

A Gotts/DWV mod is a heck of a lot cheaper than an intake and just as effective. Exhaust doesn't really help that much either, it just sounds better. If you keep the 37's, whether you regear or not a programmer is almost mandatory.

Really, 37's and crying for MPG? I'll say it BEST OF LUCK WITH A GASSER! You may gain 1-2 MPG back with 4.88's, yet your tranny will now love you! Yes you do need 4.88's at least for your truck. Or downgrade to 33's and your whole truck will love you. Less stress on parts, balljoints, suspension, motor, trans.
