Tires slipped on ice, now whining

Can anyone help me out....was driving my truck up an incline, the tires spun on some ice and then grabbed the pavement hard. Ever since then there has been a real faint whining noise that is only noticeable when the vehicle is slowing down. It did not make this noise prior to my tires slipping, and am assuming it is something with the rear differential? If anyone has any ideas, please help...wondering how much it could end up costing me??? Thanks

Guessing maybe a bearing got jimmied up somehow. I'm no mechanic at all, so someone else may know better. Rear end work can get expensive fast, so no guesses at what you are looking at til they take it apart. Sorry, I'm really not much help.
