Your tires are 34.5"

With your current setup your engine RPM at 65mph is around 1650RPM.... Not bad if your tires wern't huge!

I bet your 4.6 would feel a lil better revving a bit more than that...Your tires not only got taller...But heavier and wider...

With your tires...

4.10 @ 65mph = 1817

4.56 @ 65mph = 2021

Do you ever plan on going bigger tire wise?

no,,tires and lift are staying the same because it is a work truck and not much towing either,,just been reading alot on here that guys running bigger tires should re-gear,,i was also considering a tune before re-gearing to see if that does anything first but dont know to much about that either,,ha ha,,i have alot to learn i guess,,

It a tough call on your part..

If the truck is never loaded and your satidfied with the power it has you could probably just stay stock..

IMO goin from a 3.73 to a 4:10 is going to make your truck's drivability much better....But its going to cost you for such a minmal increment...

If I was you, I'd go with the 4.56...

You'll be revving closer to the 4.6's happy place, but it may cost you more on fuel....Or it may make no differance at all in consumption...

You could break even.

When I did the gear in my old truck I went from a 3.08 to 3.73

I had 31" tires with both gears sets and I noticed no change in mileage really...If anything, it was better on gas...

The engine didn't have to work like a bastard anymore....and the power gain was quite noticable.... My torque converter was finally at peace...

It really depends on where you go...

I'm going to say a larger $$ than what you might be able to get it don for..

anywhere from $600-$1000 (per axle)

Depending on what brand of gears...

What do you think you'llbe going with?

the 4.56?

your truck would be a real grunter if you put thos in...

You may see a mileage drop on the highway..

I think with a 4.10 your mileage would stay the same, but you won't gain as much for hefty bill..

Like I said, its all up to you.

Really, the 4.56 is where your going to get your monies worth..

Research a bit more into people with steep gears and smaller tires....see what they say

Good luck buddy.

Everyone has a programmer of choice,

But the SCT is a better product IMO

More tuners use them, which means versatility.

Also,

Good call on getting a programmer, you'll need it for the gears!

I have also been thinking about regearing to 4.10's, I currently have 3.55's and noticed a difference when I put the 35's on.

What kind of shop specializes in gearing? Or does any automotive place install them? Also what is a good brand for 4.10's?

You will need to find a tranny shop or heavy truck shop to do your rear-end

You need to set it up right, or you'll be doing it again once its whining and or your carrier bearings are shot.

I'd stick with common names like Richmond, USA Gear, Motive..."Ford"...Etc..

I dunno, I think I'd just go to a 4.56 and call it a day bro..

you'll rev less than 2000rpm @ 65..keeping mileage "reasonable" and you'll gain a bit on those heavy 35's..

With a 4.10, you'll gain ground on the heigth of the tire, but they are also really heavy...which is why I say just go to the 4.56.....

Do some reasearch, it depends on what your needs are...

If you never plan to tow,,,,,I fo you think you might tow.,...etc

i would go with 4.56 gears, though for me id get 4.88's.

the most important thing to remember is DONT FEAR THE GEAR

and 600-$1000 per axle is ridiculous. shop around for people to install it, especially Jeep shops if there are any in your area. when i regeared my Jeep it cost me around 700 in parts and $500 in labor for both axles. so in the end i went from 4.10's to 5:13's for $1200

when you're looking at brands look at these. you bought a premium truck, so your truck deserves premium Made in USA ring and pinions.

Yukon
Superior Gear

you'll need

matching R&P sets
Master Overhaul kit for both axles

$1200/2 = $600.....

Just like I said..

Depends on what gears and who installes them...

I think I'd wanna see a dial indicator used.

I know a guy who does gears at a local tranny shop...

I got mine done in my old truck for $1000, the gears were $350 and the tranny cooler was 200, so I paid 450 labour....for all.. And that canadian..

oops sorry, i miss read. the thought process in my head was 500-1000 labor per axle, i didnt see the parts as well.

my friend does gears. its not a hard job, its just time consuming. axles with 3rd members like the ford 9" and toyota axles makes the job cake.
