I bought some yukon 4.56 gears that I'm looking to get installed in the next month or two and I was wondering if there is anything special about the front 8.8 axle because the gears are reverse cut?

Would it work to buy a master install kit that is used for any ford 8.8 axle such as a mustang? The only reason I ask is there are so many new mustang master kits being sold cheap because people buy them and then never get around to regearing and they are a lot cheaper than finding one specificly for a f150 front. I just didn't know if this would work because of the reverse cut, or if there are differences in the bolts or something I should be aware of.

The 9.75 master install kit is a different story, if you know the cheapest place to get one let me know!

 

Does anyone know for sure? I know one thing, and that is "reverse install" kits cost more from what I've seen.


here is a description from an ebay seller saying the install kit works for standard and reverse:

Master install kit fits all standard and reverse rotation Ford 8.8 Axles. Includes Timken pinion bearings & races. Timken Carrier bearings & races. so no one knows for sure if a ford 8.8 master install kit is universal for a front or rear axle?

 

i doubt they would be the same since one is IFS, but i dont know for sure. just a guess.
