Hey all I have a 2005 ford f150 5.4 4x4. It has 51000 miles. I am hearing a slight grinding noise like a brake in the front left. It imediatly goes away when put in 4x4. I changed the IWE Solenoid on fire wall tonight and it didnt help.

Is the next step to tear in to the iwe on the front end? Or could is possibly be something else. This truck sits out side all the time and I am located in Il. So i am thinking the IWE has probably got rust and will not open/close like its supposed to.

 

you should check the vacuum lines for a leak before you tear into the iwe
