they don't make anything for our trucks yet.
They told me that it would be several months till they put a 9.75 no-slip unit out.

Cool

I am refering to the recent Sport Truck article on the install of the Powertrax into the 8.8 rear gear of a 2000 F150. According to their web site, they are available. I sent them an e-mail and will post the response I get when it arrives.

Unhappy

I wish they would get the one for the 9.75 done. It looks like a pretty slick unit for those of us w/o a LS diff. I e-mailed them a month ago, and all they said was "later this year." From the sound of it, they've been saying this for a long time.

Lightbulb

So what did the article say about it? Does it work as good as a regular LS axle? Pros, cons, etc.

Thanks,

Sven

Question

The powertrax website lists a 3/4" shaft and a 7/8" shaft. How can I tell which one I have? I have a 99 supercab with a 4.2l 5-speed and a 3.55 open diff.

1999 XLT SC, bright red, 4.2l, 5 speed, MAAP stainless nerfs, Prime Designs bug deflector, Astro Euro-Lid II, Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil and Transmission Fluid.

I got an e-mail from Powertrax with the following info. Powertrax No-Slip for my truck, F150 with 8.8 rear is part # 92-0688-3108 and can handle approx 12,500 ft/lbs of torque/axle.

mtucker,
I'm pretty sure they're referring to the diameter of the differential pinion shaft (the cross-shaft upon which the spiders turn). It was 3/4" diameter in my Mustang 28-spline carrier and is 7/8" in an SVO 31-spline carrier. YMMV
