I usually touch up everything in the spring......Axles, Diffs, you name it, Keeps everything looking half decent throughout the entire season.

If the dealer does it, fine. If not, just prep the surface (Not a big deal on a new truck however), but I usually wash the undercarriage, remove loose or flaky crap and go to town with the spray bomb. Just make sure to move the wife's car if it's down wind! Hehehe

 

Use some of this stuff after a little clean up with a wire brush.



I would not expect the dealer to do any more than use a cheap black paint to make it look got for now.

I haven't been able to contact the dealership yet but I hope to do this by the weekend. Hell, after looking at my original picture again, even the spare tire rim is rusty! I didn't know I had bought a GM product!!

 

My thoughts too! Might file a complaint to Ford corporate first and see if they will handle it.

 

how does your d-shaft look? I would paint it to. I understand these are .065 thinckness and the rust sets in and you could have a twisted dshaft someday due to rust pits. I've read a lot of complaints about this. This is more critical to me at least, the diff hsg wont' leave you stranded some day! I saw a 2 pc dshaft in a junk yard one day, from a '07, and it literally looked like it came from a '47 model. My 2 cents... rossford

 

I've got a super rusty drive shaft too.... I want an aluminum shaft like my '99 had.
