ABS Ring?

I just picked up a used Track Lok LSD off of a 2002 Explorer. The seller said that he will include the ABS ring free of charge. Is there an ABS ring on F150's with the 8.8 axle?

When I had the 8.8 it had the tone ring, and I had ABS. I'll venture to say yes if you had ABS brakes on the truck.

Is it something that would be on a open diff carrier?

your reading too far into this, If the vehicle is equipped with antilock brakes the odds are that the rear 8.8 has a tone ring regardless of carrier selection.

When I did my rear swap, I had an open diff, 3.08 gears and RWABS. Mine did have the ABS ring because they had to remove it from the open carrier to put it on my TruTrac carrier so I'd say you do have one. Now I can't say 100% that the explorer ring will fit the f150 but since the 8.8's are pretty much the same I would have to guess it should fit.

Alright, my Trac Lok came in today. I didn't want to make another thread for this (more pre-gear swap jitters) but everything on this unit looks correct, right? The model number up top says 4205 FB and I couldn't find anything that matched. It looks like a 28 spline, but I counted them all and it is a 31 spline unit. Upgraded maybe?

Not an upgrade..its what you are supposed to have. If you ordered the one with 28 then you were asking for the wrong one. The mustangs have 28..F150s have 31 so they may have noticed and sent you the 31. I had the same thing almost happen. I ordered a 31 Trutrac but when I looked on the bill it said 28 so a quick call back to the shop got me the right one ordered.

It's a 31 spline. I've counted the splines are few times, and the unit came out of an explorer. I've noticed that 31 spline LSD's from Mustangs don't have those notches above and below the gears that show the clutches, but LSD's found on F150's and Explorers do. I kind of got nervous when it looked exactly like a 28 spline LSD, but after doing a bit of research, it all checked out.
