4.10's vs. 4.30's for the street...

I don't do alot of highway driving. I wanted to go from the stock 3.55's down to 4.10's before I got my new tires and rims. I went from the stock chromed-steel 17 inch wheels with Michelin STS A/X 255/65R17's to some Viscera 777's with Falken 305/40R22's. These tires are 31.6 inches tall and I can tell a big difference, i.e. a drop in torque off the line. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and drop down to 4.30's instead of 4.10's... anyone have an opinion? BTW, my reason for the gear drop is quicker E.T.'s at the dragstrip. Thanks in advance!

I went to 4.30's from 3.55's and I have 305/40/22's. It is a good choice but if I were to do it again I would go to either 3.73's or 4.10's due to being supercharged because I roast the tires from a 30 mile roll. I did choose the 4.30's because I was also towing a 8k load. Being NA the 4.30's will give you a big seat of the pants difference. I say go for it!

4.10's are fine with a 5.4 and those tires.

Thanks! Huitt24, how is it on the highway? What kind of RPM's are you turning at 70 mph?

Its not to bad on the highway I am turning around 2200-2300 at 70mph. I get anywhere from 12.5-14.5 mpg depending on how often I have my foot in it, although when my wife drives the truck she has gotten as high as 17mpg.

My wife has 3.73 gears and is running 285/45/20's and I am tempted to swap rear ends with her so that she can have a bit of performance upgrade.
