You can re-use your ring gear and pinion. If you do not disturb the pinion by replacing the pinion bearings, you do not have to worry about pinion depth when setting the gears back up. Measure the backlash before disassembly with a dial indicator and make sure it is the same afterwards. But, depending on the miles on your truck, it may be a good idea to replace all of the bearings and pinion seal.

This is a job best left to the professionals if you don't know how to do it.

your best bet there is find someone who knows what they are doing or start looking for a reputable shop.

Go to Summit Racing and buy the Richmond Gear video that shows how to change out gears if you are inclined to do it yourself. The video is about $15. Even with the video, I don't recommend you try it yourself unless you are very meticulous and mechanically inclined.

If the rear end type is the same, yes. There were 8.8" (10 bolts on pumpkin cover) and 9.75" rear ends (12 bolts) for the light duty F150s in the 97-03 generation. If the differential covers look the same, the internals should transfer directly. But you should still have someone do it that knows their stuff and has the right equipment.

On a related note, I have a 9.75" 3.55 LS and I'm wanting to go to 4.10 gears. The same LS chunk should work with the new gears, right? Or would I have to buy a new LS or locker? That would add too much cost, and I probably wouldn't do it then.

yes you can use the same carrier for different size gears.
