2wd locker question
2wd locker question
im into the natural gas ford trucks and its hard to find a four wheel drive one that doesn't cost a bunch of money. anyways i don't play around in the trucks to much to really want a four wheel drive but i do go out to the sand dunes (not to play in the truck) and finding a place to camp by the sand kinda sucks cause im worried about getting stuck. what kinds of things would a locker improve in helping me in sand or snow or mud or whatever. or is this a losing battle? and how do you guys that have 2wd trucks with lockers like them and what do they help with? thanks!!!!
I put a detroit truetrac (limited slip) in my 2wd and the difference is like night and day. I got it to help in the snow and the mild off roading I do to go hunting, fishing, camping etc. With the truetrac and a set of oversized all terrain tires I have absolutely no trouble going where I want.
I decided to go with a limited slip over a locker because the LS has much better road manners. My truetrac actually feels like an open diff on the pavement until it's needed. No popping or clicking. You only know it's there because instead of getting stuck and spinning one tire, the truck just goes.

do a selectable locker if you just want it for when you go play and have the cash. other wise a simple LS will suffice.
i just swapped in a ford LS into mine when i changed gears and while i havent had a chance to use it yet i like knowing its there
