Truck going under the knife!

Well I have got the nod from the Boss(wife)!! Going in sometime in the next 2-3 weeks for new gears and l/s or locker. Just wanted some input on what other thought.

1st question- 4.88 or 4.56? running 35's now with the 4.6L but will be going up to 37-38's when these wear out. Daily driver about 30 miles a day but plan on doing alot more offroad after swap.

2nd question- Trutrac, Locker, or Ected in the rear? I like the driveability of l/s but the option of having a locker so leaning to a selectable. What do ya'll think?

3rd question- anything up front? Maybe a l/s?

Thanks for your input guys!

4.88's for sure, no reason to regear twice

Limited slip, with an electric locker so it'll behave on the street and still be user friendly off road

I have no idea on the front, I've alwasy left the fronts alone

Yeah 4.88 is what I was thinking but beings it is drivin for daily use on the highway didnt know if the 4.88 would be to much. I think between the 4.56 and 4.88 in OD going 65-70mph is only like 200-300rpm difference, right?

Yeah the Ected is a limited slip until a switch is fliped inside the cab and then its fully locked. I think that is the best way to go. L/S on the street and Locker offroad! The best of both worlds!

with the 4.6 you may get better mileage with the 4.88's over the 4.56's

Nice thats always a bonus! Not looking for MPG but if it comes along with the performance then I'll give me even more reason to lay on that right pedal a little more often!

Well I think I'm pretty well set on the 4.88's now! Since everyone agrees with me too!

As far as the l/s or locker I'm just trying to justify if spending the extra money for the selectable will be worth it. I have a friend that has the Trutrac in the rear of his Grand Cherokee and he loves it. So I was looking into the Trutrac and then came across the Ected. Limited slip and then flip the switch and BAM! locker!! Sweet!! But would I use it enough and do things tough enough that I would need a locker instead of a good Limited slip is the question.

For a weekend get out and play in the sand, mud, and moderate wheeling be enough to justify having the Ected or would the Trutrac be enough?
