What do you think? Will using 91 octane help at all for towing?

Help what? Are you experiencing pre-ignition?

There isn't any additional energy in 91...

Could add more hp, but only if you advance the timing.

Does nothing for ya. One of the biggest misconceptions in the automotive world...running higher octane gives me more power! Nope! If your engine is not set up for a particular octane, i.e. high compression, advanced timing, etc, it does nothing. In fact, it's even worse. Higher octane has a slower burning flame front, so if you're engine is set for that it'll cause carbon to build up. If your truck runs good on 87, it'll run good on 87 while towing and the higher octane will make no improvements during such.

If you are running stock, it will make a difference as the knock sensor will allow more timing advance. If you have a tuner, then you can make a much bigger difference by loading a high octane tune.

My motor is all stock and I don't have any after market computer or tuner. I'll stick with 87. Thanks for the info.
