Shudder in 4H

Since the temperatures are below 32F I've got some problems; the check engine light came on and I experience problems in 4H-mode.

when I want to drive from a full stop the truck is shuddering and you'll hear a loud bang. If you make a turn, you get the same. When the speed is above 10mph you've got no problems at all.

From what I've read it's the LS-differential. Is it just a change of fluid? If so, can I use this oil:

It's a synthetic hypoid 75W140 oil with limited slip additives. It's hard to find some other oil here in Europe... I've found also some oil from Castrol, Castrol SAF-XJ SAE 75W-140 also with LS additives.

Or do I really need the Motorcraft oil with friction modifier?

I would think that lube would work just fine. You only need about 3 qts. depending on which diff you have.

The B6 axle, 3.73 LS in the 2006 King Ranch. Quite expensive oil, about €35/litre!! ($50/qt)
