1997 Ford F150 won't shift to 4x4 :( HELP!!!

So i'm new here and recently bought a 1997 ford f150 4wd 4.6l xlt. The truck is in working condition and drivable, but when i try to put it in 4wd, the shifter on the floor won't budge. Can someone please give me some input on this on how i can fix such a problem? Thank you.

btw i bought the truck with 170000 miles for $700. It was a deal i couldn't miss.

Go underneath and spray everything with wd40 and pull on it until it works?

You'll have to follow the lever. I would take your boot off(rubber thing by lever) and remove your lever and then spray everything that is involved with it working. Make sure it's warm or it won't do much penetrating for you.
Let soak for hour then spray the heck outta them again. It worked for my auto tranny that stopped working I assume it should work in this situation.

Got plugs and wires to do on my 97 f-150 so if I get a chance I'll try to look at the system(need to bend 4wd lever anyway) gotta love 3 inch body lifts.
