Mag-Hytech Trans Pan and Diff Covers question??

Is this a pretty straight forward swap out? besides the fact that I need to have a few extra quarts around to compensate for the extra volume and loss of some fluid?? Has any one done this and ran into any problems??

It is straight forward. Drop the pan empty the trans fluid. Put in a new filter and installed the new tranny pan.

I know the differential cover is very easy, make sure you get the limited slip fluid for your axle, hell thats gonna cost ya about $110 in fluids, but its worth it.

Take 30 mins on a lift or an hour on the ground. Both ways with basic hand tools.

Glad I found this thread, I have been thinking about doing the Diff covers, and trans pan as well.

Have had both on my truck for almost two years now and am very happy. Trans pan is easy, whether you get the D or DD pan (more oil in the DD). There is a possible complication on the diff cover. For sure, if you have the 10.25 axle as I do, you'll may have to modify the bracket for an evaporative control system tank just above the diff. At least one guy with a 9.75 axle reported to me that he had to relocate his as well but I also know some people with 9.75s that didn't bother and said there was clearance. If yours is an 8.8 axle, I can't say if you need to do anything. It's a much smaller unit. After you get the cover on, just look up and imagine the axle being at the top of it's travel (on the bumpstops) and if it looks like it would hit something above, it can be relocated. Exactly how or where is somewhat variable according to what axle you have and the year of your truck. Just an FYI

Trans Pan

Installed a Mag-Hytech DD trans pan on my 2001 Screw 4x4 with 5.4. Had to drop the cross member to get the back two bolts in. I couldn't talk myself into leaving them out. Not too hard to drop though. Perfect fit otherwise. One might think about slightly modifying the CM to allow easy bolt removal and install.

Just my two cents.
