Truck Options
I am trying to determine what options came factory on my truck. It is a 99 SC with ORP stickers, but does not actually have this as there are no skid plates, HD shocks, or 17" wheels. It also has no hitch, but has the HD rear axle and tranny cooler. I know Chevy puts stickers in the glove box with option codes. I called my dealer, and he told me unless I bought it new, there would be no way for me to find out as the only way is to trace to the actual original invoice to find out exactly what options came from the factory. I have to think this is not true. Some things are obvious by sight, but axle ratios, diff type, etc, are all things I am interested in finding out. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

There is a wealth of information on the driver's door placard. Info includes original tire/wheel size, axle ratio & type, color codes, weight ratings and build date (roughly).
Also, the VIN will have a little info as to which engine, drivetrain, and manufacturing plant the truck originated from... but you have to have a "decoder"!
Finally, given the VIN, the dealer really should be able to duplicate the window sticker. If not, then call Ford customer service and ask them for one.

The big rear end comes automatically with the 5.4L engine option. Heavy Duty Cooling is a stand alone option. Heavy Duty Cooling is included in the Tow Package.
Like Nomo said, the only sure way is to take the VIN to a dealer.
