i have a 06 f150 2wd (4.2) and am ordering new gears soon (4.56s)

Is all i need to know is 8.8 rear and 31 spline????
Will this gear swap require different tools or parts rather than a normal gear swap???

also i have 33s (maybe 35s in the future) on my truck and pull trailers often, is this the right gears i need?

If you have a manual transmission, you shouldn't be towing anything over about 3000#, and the expense of gears really wouldn't be worth it. I think automatics are good to about 5500#.

With 33's and 4.56's, 70 mph in 5th with a manual is 2600 rpm. That's gonna be a bit rough on gas mileage. With an automatic, it will be 2275 in OD, that's a lot better.
