rear end question
rear end question
i have a 2002 4.6 with 3.55 non limited slip, and pulling a trailer as much as i do i really need limited slip, so im thinking about getting one from the salvage yard,
i know the 9.75 is for the 5.4 and the 8.8 is the 4.6 so my question is would a 9.75 work better than a 8.8 or should i just go with the 8.8 again? and what size should i get as far as 3.55, 3.73 and so on.
AND...is there a way i can check to see if its limited slip or non limited slip, because the guy that runs the salvage yard here is a moron and probably doesnt keep up with it

thought about it, but i wouldnt trust myself doin it, and i sure as heck dont trust anybody else doin it figured itd be faster, safer, and easier to just get one from the salvage
ive got 275 75 16 buckshots if i remember correctly their just a tad bigger than the door jam sticker reccomends so its not a huge difference
Then 4.10's would be the best compromise between performance and economy. I highly doubt that you would be able to find a easy to install compatible axle assembly with 4.10's in a boneyard. If you professionally regear, you will be getting new parts properly installed, not used parts of unknown quality, and you can get an aftermarket limited slip or locker that's better than a stock Ford LS. I'm guessing $800 would do the whole job.
