its a 97 f150 and 4x4 worked when i got the truck used then stoped working..any ideas, if it hlps it has the e40d tranny...thanx for looking

 

Don't know but I went out on the beach Saturday and after coming off, it took a while for my truck to decide to get of 4x4Low. I need to find out more about what makes the change happen. I don't have the manual.

 

how is your windsheild? This era of truck (pretty sure it included the 97correct me if i'm wrong) tended to leak a little, drip down onto the GEM (generic electronic module) and funny stuff starts to happen. A popular one is the electroic shifter goes ka-plat or will work once in a blue moon, such as go into 4 high but not back out. The GEM is located in the dash above the fuse panel. Check the surrounding metal for signs of rust= possible moisture.
