clunk while driving

Hey y'all,

I just got an 04, and I've noticed while driving, if I let off the gas for a second to maintain speed, then press on the gas again, I sometime get a loud clunk. I didn't think anything of it, but after reading some of the threads here I started wondering if this is something I need to be concerned about.

Any help or advise would be appreciated

check your u-joints.

don't quote me on this, but i'm pretty sure there was a problem with the 04 u-joints.

Well, I looked over the u-joints. I didn't see any cracks/damage, no missing clips/caps, no freeplay, no sign of leaks.

Any ideas on what else to check for? Would it be worth it to have a mechanic check it out, or would he just be looking for the same things?

I had a clunk in my 04 5.4 XLT that usually happened if I got on it or when I turned kinda hard. After some research (44k miles) I figured out my sway bar/stabilizer bar links were shot. Ordered a set of Moog from Carquest, and put them on myself in about an hours time. That fixed my clunk! Hope this helps, just puttin my 2 cents in....let us know what the outcome is
