Burn Outs
Burn Outs
Hey Guys,
OK I know this may seem like a stupid question but I gotta ask because in all these years I've never heard an explanation. I see all these trucks and cars doing burn outs. How do they hold the car in one place. I've done burnouts but I don't stand still for long!
The brakes hold both the front and rear wheels when applied and most emergency brakes work on the rear wheels. Have they plugged the brakes lines to the rear wheels somehow?

Thanks Guys,
4.6 - sounds like an expensive mod for just a burnout but it does sound like a plausible explanation. It does look like the front brakes are on hard but this should affect the ability to do a burnout not to mention what it must do to the brakes. Yikes!
Yetti, Yea, just regular people that you see on You Tube burnin the treads off their tires. How do they keep from taking off like a rocket. I'm talking about the people who just sit for a minute or more just smokin the tires.
Come on guys, there must be someone who knows whats going on.

a lot of people use a line lock
it works the front brakes but releases the rears
others tear up thier rear brakes buy powerbraking it (holding the brakes while standing on the throttle)

Hearing all these stories is one reason I won't buy a used truck unless I know the previous owner. I just can't believe what some people will do to their vehicles. However, don't mind me, each to his own.

They hold the car in place by using the brakes. The front brakes do MUCH more braking than the rear brakes, which is why the rear tires spin so easy.

this is why we live in the U.S. of A. so we have these freedoms that many people live without
here's 2 tricks that work almost always.
putting on old worn dry-rotted tires burn like crazy and dont require much brake to hold the vehicle.
popular but unsafe, pour a little brake fluid on the rears (could use bleach or oil) and the tires have no traction at all. the downside it could spray into someones eyes and this screws up the tires bigtime!
these of course are for lower powered vehicles. all still require power braking. anything damp will help tremendously.
