god awful grinding noise

i have an 07 f-150 lariat with 29000 miles. just recently while driving, it will make a horrible loud grinding noise in the front end till i slow down 2 about 5 mph, then i hear a thunk as if my 4 wheel drive is locking in or out. then i get going again and everything is fine and within a couple miles it'll start grinding again. i hardly ever use the 4 wheel drive n i never beat the truck. some1 told me it may be my 4x4 acuators in the front hub? let me know what u guys thing. thanks

It most likely is the actuators trying to engage the hub. It's a known, somewhat common issue.

You should still be on warranty - take it to the dealer.
