Whats up guys. Just a couple of inches from where the axle tubes go into the center section there are what appear to welds of some sort( plug?, spot?). The one on the right is leaking. I took it to the dealer and they said there is no detectable leak at this time, which is very curious since you can visually see little drops of oil on it whenever I drive it. Has anyone else had this issue or know anything about this or could be causing it.

 

Plug welds in the 8.8 have know to fail (at least in Explorers). When they do you can spin the tube. A good upgrade for the 8.8 is to weld the tubes into the center section all the way around. Not saying that's what is going to happen with yours...just a tip

what do you mean by 8.8

 

your rear axle is a ford 8.8. that is the diameter of the ring gear in inches.
