4.56 gears

well I finally got my yukon 4.56 gears in. Drove it home today. I'm running my stock tires now but soon the 35s is going back on,hopefully winter is over. I took it easy today. No whine so far. whats your opinion on getting the oil change after 500 miles. I'm running royal purple synthetic oil in it now.

Last truck I had re-geared, took it easy for the first 500 miles, then pulled cover and put in new oil.
I again put new oil in around 1000 miles or so.

So after getting new gears put in how often do you have to change the oil in them? after the first 500 miles and then how often after that? And another question is why do you have to keep changing the oil
