I have a 2007 4x4 and want to swap out my stock 3.73's for 4.88's. Do I need the ones for 8.8 or 9.75? Or will I need one each? Wondering if the front and rear are the same.
If you have the 4.6, it is 8.8 for both front and rear, with the front being a reverse cut. If a 5.4, the front will be 8.8 reverse cut and the rear will be 9.75.
Thanks. I want to change them out pretty soon. My neighbor has a new bodystle chevy with a 7 1/2" rough country and 3" body running 37's. His rearend started making all kinds of noise so i'm trying to not have that happen to me.
Ifr going to bigger tires and do not change the rears, you are more likely to have trouble with the transmission, not the diffs. More likely, he just got a bad one.
