Post Need Help on 94 F-150 Cruise Control

My cruise control quit working recently. When I investigated under the hood I found that the cruise control servo, which is mounted on the fender only has a cable running to the throttle and a wiring loom attached.... no vacuum lines.... nothing else. I pulled the wiring plug out and noticed that hydralic fluid was inside the connection. I suspect the servo has hydralic fluid in it and it's just leaking. My question is: Can anybody confirm "yes there is fluid in the cruise control unit and they do fail by leakage" If so then I'll feel pretty confident in replacing that unit to make the repair. The dealer says it's tranny fluid, but I know it's not and there are no vac lines hooked up to the thing which might of deposited tranny fluid there in the first place!

Thanks,

Matt

The servo is all electric. Could the stuff you are seeing just be electrical connector grease? I haven't taken one of these type of servo's apart ever, so I can't say for certain that there isn't some kind of oil in there.

There is no fluid inside that servo/amplifier assembly, just a little bit of grease to lube the gears. The two most common failures on those trucks is either the switches or the servo/amp itself.

thanks for the help...... what acctually happened was this: The cut off switch (when you hit the brakes, is hydralic and mounted in the master cylinder... that switch was leaking and due to the seal wiring loom plug... brake fluid was being forced through the wires into the plug of the servo unit. I replaced the switch in the master cylinder and problem solved.
