Question What gears for front diff???

Hi all!

I changed my rear diff gears to 4.10's tru trac LS about a year and a half ago.... am now looking at doing front diff so I can use 4x4 again.

What is the best option for front diff gears???

I know they have to be reverse cut for front end, but do I get LS or what? What is best for offroading... considering I have the tru trac LS in rear and off roading will be mostly snow or hard packed dirt trails.... also I dont 4 wheel but maybe 4-6 times per year...

What do you all say?

I bought Yukon gears.

I wouldn't mess with a locker for the front. just switch out the gears.

Ford Racing may make some also. they are pretty good.

You could go fairly cheap on the front gears though since you don't use them much.

You *can* put a LS or a locker in the front, but that's really only for dedicated offroad vehicles, not DD's.

leave it open. less money unless u are going to use it for off road use only. The rear end u have was my first choice , but money came into play. I am in the mid west. A limited rearend (auburn pro) and an open front and I have no problems. I hunt in the rock river bottoms so I from time to time will be in the soup an I have had no problems.
P.S. I'm sure u know, but match the front and rear gears 4:10, 4:56, etc. I have 4:10's stock tire and rim.
it gave it a lil bit more go go over the 3:55's I got Motive gears in mine.

motive, precision, yukon all are good quality gears, stay away from usa standard, geniune. a LS will take you further but that can just get you in more trouble we have evrything you need at a reasonable price www.eastcoastgearsupply.com
