please post your axle code, and we will tell you. i am not familiar w/ the gearing offerings on a 4x2 4.6, but i imagine it would be at least a 3.30...

The first digit tells the chassis weight & type of diff; the 2nd tells the ratio; if there's a 3rd digit (4WD only), it means the front diff is limited slip. In the first digit, 1 is the code for most 1/2-ton open diffs; 2 can be 1/2- or 3/4-ton open; H is a 1/2-ton limited slip. (Any letter in the first digit means L/S.) In the 2nd digit, 2 = 2.73; 3 = 5.13; 4 = 3.54; 5 = 4.10; 6 = 3.73; 7 = 3.31; 8 = 3.08 (or sometimes 4.88); 9 = 3.55.

I think a 19 would be an open, 3.55.

Use the listing that Bluejay posted, that's got the gearing options covered pretty good for 150s and LD250s.

That said, when my folks got their 98 the dealer screwed up the order sheet and it came with 3.08 gears. Dad refused the truck and the dealer reordered so I don't know whatever happened to it but someone sure got one doggy 4x4! Yep, there's at least one '98 F150 4x4, 5.4/auto/3.08 running around somewhere in South Dakota.

I found the one I was looking for, it's a little cleaner list.

19 — 3.55 non-limited slip — F-150
25 — 4.10 non-limited slip — F-150
26 — 3.73 non-limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
27 — 3.31 non-limited slip — F-150
B5 — 4.10 limited slip — F-150
B6 — 3.73 limited slip — F-150/Mark LT
H9 — 3.55 limited slip — F-150
18 = 3.08 non-limited slip — F-150
