after I lift my truck I am gonna put some 4.10s or somthing like that on my truck

but here is where I want y'alls opinion

does $170 for labor per differential sound like a good price to install the gears in my truck

also what brand of gears is best

I have tires that are sized as follows 305 70r16 and I dont plan to go to much bigger maybe an inch or 3

$170 is stupid cheap, if someone priced it that cheap rip their arm off and beat them with it. Most gear changes run $1500, the front axle is a BIT#H!! Motive or richmond would be good gears.

$170 thats a pretty good price. I just paid $300 for both, but I knew the guy. I went with Motive 4.10's. I'm happy with them, they are quiet and a good price.

He is crazy, sounds to me like he has never done a IFS F150, thats unreal, the labor is extensive.

That is a good price. If the guy is any good. Some techs like to pick up some loose coin doing work after hours. Around here its $250.00 per axle for labour only. As yours is a 97 I would recommend new bearings. Along with gears you will need a crush collar, shims, bearings, pinion nut, seals, and oil. Did your installer advise you of this?
