Believe it or not, $850 per axle is only slightly higher than the industry norm. The general pricing figure is $1500 for both axles by a reputable shop. Why do you think so many people REALLY think twice or thrice about regearing?

Thumbs up

When I had the gears changed in my 97 F150 I went to a "differential" shop only! Thats what I recommend you do!
Heres the one I went to;

very few dealers know how to regear, I would also take it to diff shop, honestly most guys are hacks. Whereever you take it, ask to see there differential installation tools if they do not have a inch lb beam style or needle style torque wrench, and clamshell style bearing puller, go elsewhere.
$250 -$350 for an 8.8 should be normal, the fronts can be get expensive b/c the book calls for alot.
