Question 8.8" Factory Aluminum Diff Cover???

I know the Crown Vic for some reason comes with an Al. diff cover. Would this be at all of an upgrade over the original steel one? I don't care so much about looks, just figured it would be a cheap upgrade while I'm already in there.

I am really not sure how much of an improvement that would actually be. Aluminum would dissipate heat better, but not sure how worth it it would be. Does it have cooling fins ?

I would suggest the Mag Hytech cover. Its aluminum, looks real nice, holds a TON more fluid ( just about doubled mine) and even come with a dipstick ! Real nice quality cover.

Chrome does not dissipate heat well, just in case that comes into the equation.

Get a cover with a girdle. That will help keep the bearing caps in place.
