It started on my way work this morning I get a thump noise that I can feel right under me. The first time it happened I pulled over because it felt like my front end broke off and I ran it over. now it's just a thump and rattling noise. It comes and goes during a constant speed. Nothing happens when turning, accelerating or braking. Just when cruising straight ahead.

 

The rear u-joints are tight. the front ones are rough but this all happening in 2wd. Any suggestions on what this could be. The fact that this noise only happens at regular driving speeds and not during turns or acceleration really puzzles me.

 

Still sounds like u-joints to me.
