Post Vibration at 43mph please help

I went to my dealer to have this checked out. Said it would cost me 65 bucks just to look at it. (out of warranty) He went on to say that even if it was something like a bad driveshaft or whatever that my extended warranty company would not cover it unless it failled! This is not good customer service. If anyone has had this vibration please help me out.

Thanks

Bubba:

I have a similar vibration. At 42mph while coasting at 1100rpm, I feel the vibration. This is most noticeable on smooth asphalt road surface. The dealer replaced the valve body and 2 solenoids in the transmission, however the shudder still exists but it does shift better. I am at a loss. I probably will drive it until something breaks or the Ford Engineers find a fix. It's ironic that I traded my 2000 GMC Sierra xtcab for the Ford due to a similar shudder.

Might want to do a search. I heard some people saying something about the exhaust causing this?? It vibrates very badly... Enough to feel it!

possible causes:

1. Road
2. Tires (old and/or out of balance)
3. **Exhaust
4. Transmission
5. Bent rim

I have the same 43mph vibration on my 99F150xcab5.4 . I have had the tires rebalanced and have had the driveshaft and transmission extension housing replaced per some TSB. Problem still exists. Rear also bounces 4-5 times over sharp bumps at any speed above 15mph. The driveshaft helped this vibration a little, but did not affect the 43mph vibration. So save your money on the driveshaft. There is supposed to be a TSB on 97s (&98?) that stiffens the rear bumper mounting and gets rid of this second vibration. I have also had the truck on a rack at 43mph and normal ride height. The only problem I found was one tire a bit out of round. Rotating that tire with the spare did not help. Changing driveline angles 1.5 degrees might be worth a try. Good luck and let me know if you find a fix.

Cool

Check the U joints as a stiff joint will cause this. As with all these trucks no grease nipples.
My old 79 and 86 both did this when the joints got dry.
