hey i let my brother use my truck on the weekend and he got it stuck and long story short he gave me back my poor 1997 f150 4x4 with no 4x4 at all the joystick on the ground wont move. what happened there is nothing blocking the linkages underneath but my uncle is a nissan mechanic and he said that it is a possiblity that the 4x4 seized considering the guy i bought the truck didnt use the 4x4 much ne help would be nice considering im only 17 and dont have ne money to send it to a shop to get it fixed.

 

Check to see if you have fluid in the t-case. If it didn't have any and your brother used it it may have locked up. Also do you have the same gears in the front and the rear and do you have the same size tires? I had an old ranger that had different gears and to get the t-case to shift back to 2wd I had to jack up the front of the truck to release the pressure on the drive shaft.

 

i had a old dakota that the shifter was a pain to move. like he said check fluid level and condition first. linkage could be binded up inside the case.
